Gospel Centrality

We talk a lot about Gospel Centrality and of course many believers would say "we want to have the gospel central in our teaching and ministry" but what is the gospel? Is it come to Jesus and everything will work out, your relationships will be better, your children will behave, your financial situation will be secure, etc...No! If you come to Jesus with these pretenses you are treating him more as an idol giver than the one and only Person who deserves your worship - the gospel is simply this, Jesus Christ died for your sins and rose for your salvation that by grace through faith you might have eternal life. He should be enough to satisfy your deepest longings. Don't sell out for mere idols by letting good things become God things.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
 It will be healing to your flesh
and refreshment to your bones.
Proverbs 3:5-8 (ESV)
